How To Pray • This Fall

This Fall in RUF Gatherings, we will be talking about How To Pray. We will be working through The Lord's Prayer (Mat. 6:9-13; Lk 11:1-4) and thinking together about how Jesus taught his disciples they should hear from and talk with their God and Father in Heaven. This is exciting for so many reasons: (1) It's exciting because it's just plain essential for all believers young and old (a) to memorize the Lord's Prayer in order to have it on command every day all day throughout one's life (b) to not only memorize but also have deep understanding about what the Lord's Prayer means for us both individually and collectively as a community who worship Christ, and (c) to know how to put all the various elements Jesus is teaching his disciples in the Lord's Prayer--how to put it all into practice in our lives on a daily, hourly, and minute-by-minute basis.

The Lord's Prayer is so historic and central to the belief of all Christians from all backgrounds, in all places, and throughout the church's past and present! You don't want to miss it! Please come!

SUMMER 2014 046_2 RUF Leaders. We want to serve you!

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow.

May she rest in peace.

OCT6a56 b Our group at RUF's Fall Conference last Oct.!

RUF brings to the campus a Christ-centered ministry that wants to see students embraced and equipped by God's Grace.

Students from BROWN UNIVERSITY, the RHODE ISLAND SCHOOL OF DESIGN, and other Providence area schools have formed "RUF" - an evangelical Christian fellowship that is connected with the nationwide campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America. Our members are students from a wide variety of ethnicities, church, and religious backgrounds who want to know Jesus Christ. RUF is here for both the "convinced" Christian and the "unconvinced" who want to know more about Christianity.
